HDB BTO Nov 2020
Toa Payoh and Bishan BTO Oversubcribed 2

Despite buyers suffering website glitches on HDB website, the Build-to-Order (BTO) flats of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) in Bidadari and Bishan were still much oversubscribed only one day into the one-week sales exercise.

After the introduction of over 5,700 BTO flats and about 5,220 Selling and Balance flats (SBF), HDB’s website faced different problems from the high traffic demand.

Taking their grievances to Facebook, impacted customers claimed they did not afford the administrative charge of $10 or were unaware whether their payment went through.

The HDB said the problems had been settled in a Facebook update at noon on Wednesday, with the e-services accessible on its website.

The larger flats in Bishan and Toa Payoh also continued to be oversubscribed, considering the website problems.

In reality, for each of the 144 units offered at 5pm on Wednesday, the five-room flats at Toa Payoh’s project received more than five applicants.

Except grants, rates start from $627,000 for such rooms, rendering them the priciest units in this launch.

And though by Wednesday evening, the 910 four-room and 184 three-room flats provided, the other BTO housing project in Toa Payoh, were not over-subscribed the units are expected to receive more demand in the coming days, The Straits Times said.

With around two applicants jostling for each of the accessible units, Bishan Ridges emerged as the next most famous project. The 1,222 four-room flats and 124 three-room flats of the project earned 2,606 and 233 demands, respectively.

Buyers would have to wait the longest period for this project since the construction of Bishan Ridges is anticipated in the second quarter of 2026.

Over in Tampines, the 244 five-room flats and 360 four-room flats were both oversubscribed at the GreenEmerald project in Tampines, obtaining 356 and 534 applications respectively.

Garden Court @ Tengah and Garden Terrace @ Tengah, the two housing projects in Tengah, emerged as the least common with just about the same amount of applications received as the units provided for styles of five and four spaces.

Just 98 applications were submitted for Tengah’s 218 three-room apartments.

As the units are scheduled to be ready by the first quarter of 2024, buyers of Tengah flats would have to wait the shortest time.
