To meet the needs of cyclists and pedestrians, Singapore developers will soon be required to include Walking and Cycling Plan (WCP) for their upcoming projects.
The Walking and Cycling Plan (WCP) will take effect this coming July, Singapore government will implement Walk Cycle Ride SG vision to develop cycling and walking as alternative ways of green mobility to lessen the reliance on cars.
WCP will be required to every projects of developers to provide more safety, convenience and accessibility to pedestrians and cyclists.
Meanwhile, cycling and walking routes from leading transport nodes and surrounding areas will need to considered and reviewed carefully, along with preparation for covered linkways or walkways, and safe cyclist and pedestrian crossings.
The Walking and Cycling Plan (WCP) will implement first to commercial projects, including shopping complexes, business parks, offices and schools where high number of pedestrian and cyclist traffic is frequently.
Moreover, Singapore's Ang Mo Kio Town, one of the most well-established housing estates is set to rejuvenate and become a model for "walking and cycling" town. The implementation of this initiative will add value to the residents in Ang Mo Kio, including upcoming projects like The Panorama along Ang Mio Kio Avenue 2.
