Sengkang is the newest residential estate in Singapore. This town actually came to life in the late 1990s. Since then, it has bloomed and became one of the most promising residential estates in the country.
Before HBD flats and major public transportation existed in Sengkang, it was known to house pepper and rubber plantation lands. As the country underwent developments, Sengkang also thrived to cope up with the changes. It was then transformed by the government into a modern housing estate that now houses 50,080 HDB flats and more than 170,000 residents.
During the construction of HDB flats in Sengkang, the creation of Sengkang Light Rail Transit (LRT) was also in progress. The presence of this LRT has promoted preference over Sengkang because of its convenience and great accessibility. In the coming years, more and more people are estimated to house in Sengkang, specially now that more Built-to-Order (BTO) flats are being built in the area.
Things to Expect
According to Urban Redevelopment Authority Master Plan 2014, there is a new integrated development that will rise near Buangkok MRT. It might be situated just beside Palm View Elementary School or near the BTO project of Compassvale Ancilla.
A family-oriented shopping mall is also expected to open in Sengkang later this year. This project is called “Seletar Mall” and is located at the verge of Sengkang West Ave and Fernvale Road. It is developed by two renowned developers: United Engineers Development and Singapore Press Holdings.
Seletar Mall has a gross floor area of 284,000 square feet. Once completed, it will showcase its child-friendly facilities like changing stations, nursery rooms, roof garden and outdoor play area. This project is easily connected to Fernvale LRT and will serve as a major shopping destination in Sengakng, serving nearby HDB flat residents or condo residents.
Condos within Sengkang
Sengkang is enclosed within District 19, Together with Hougang, Punggol and Serangoon. Exciting condos that can be availed within the district are Rivertrees Residences, Jewel @ Buangkok, The Tembusu and Jade Residences.
