As work in the construction industry resumes in Singapore, workers will be required to have a complete and clean swab test by September 5.

According to a joint statement released by the Economic Development Board & Health Promotion, Building & Construction Authority and Ministry of Manpower, workers who are residing in dormitories including personnel working on-site, process and construction sectors and marine workers will have to undergo mandatory rostered routine testing or RRT every 2 weeks.

Workers who fail to undergo RRT will not be able to resume work and will have a Red on their AccessCode Status under the “Health Status” according to the release.

There are about 16,000 employers or 82% who have joined the Swab Registration System or SRS by the Health Promotion Board and have their workers scheduled for RRT as per the authorities.

That means a total of around 102,000 workers are yet to undergo swab testing for the RRT.

Employers are constantly reminded to have their workers booked a scheduled appointment to avoid any interruption in the operation of their business.

Slots and locations that are available can be accessed through the SRS upon scheduling an appointment, according to the authorities. The regional screening centres are comprised of 18 sites with dormitories that are built purposely to accommodate testing across the state, including Sungei Tenga Lodge, Old Police Academy, Tampines Dormitory, PPT Lodge and The Float @ Marina Bay.

Workers will then be assigned dates automatically for their succeeding swab tests. If in any case there are new workers, employers will need to update and schedule them for an appointment. That’s why employers are encouraged to regularly monitor the SRS.

The release also stated that they will continuously update the system as soon as the workers are due for their RRT and as their dormitories are cleared.
