
Singapore’ largest integrated mixed-use developments, South Beach, has been awarded the only Platinum SG Mark at Design Business Chamber Singapore SG Mark Award 2016.
Jointly developed by 2 renowned developer IOI Properties (Malaysian based) and City Developments Limited (CDL), South Beach is located at Beach Road in District 07. This iconic project stands on a 3.5ha plot and took 8 years to be completed. South Beach also featured design challenges displaying 4 conserved buildings with state-of-the-art structures.
Some of South Beach’s green features that hit the judges are the canopy with 280 metre long that converts the solar energy to electricity, it also Capturing rainwater to irrigate the landscaping of South Beach and a sky gardens that serves as ‘green lungs’.
As calculated, South Beach can saves energy up to 17 million KWh and 174,000 cubic metres of water yearly.
Other local projects that recognized SG Mark Gold Awards, includes the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) campus located at Changi and JTC Space @ Tuas by JTC development.
Overall, 32 organisations received the awards this year. Previous winners include Changi Airport, Gardens by the Bay and Botanic Gardens.
