North-South Corridor

Singapore's first expressway to have cycling route and dedicated bus lanes "The North-South Corridor" is targeted to be completed in year 2026.

According to  Land Transport Authority (LTA), the major construction for the first integrated transport corridor on the expressway will start in 2017. The project will calls for invitations to tender for planned corridor, connecting the north towns to the city in the next months.

At first, the project was announced as vehicular expressway to be ready by 2020, but last Janauary, the announcement was changed that the highway will be reconstruct as Singapore's first integrated transport corridor.

There will be pedestrian and cycling paths throughout the 21.5km surface area of expressway. Vehicles will run particularly underground, highway will have 3 lanes, one is reserved for express bus service, while other lanes for bike and pedestrian paths on surface.

When completed in 2026, travelling from north towns, like Ang Mo Kio, Sembawang and Woodlands, to will be reduced by up to 30 minutes.
