Jurong Lake District to have bicycle-sharing schemeSingapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) will pilot a large-scale bicycle-sharing in the Jurong Lake District by end of next year.

Encompassing over 100 docking stations and 1,000 bicycles over these areas, the bicycle-sharing scheme will serve the public and provide access to a bicycle 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Bicycle can be pick up at any docking station and bring the bicycle back at any station within the service area. Spaced in docking stations will be 400m apart.

Jurong Lake District bicycle-sharing stations will allows residents of nearby Lake Grande and Lakeville to make short trips from homes to nearby public transport system, where they can use and return the bicycle, and go on with their journey.

Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that it will call a tender to assign an operator who will build, own, maintain and operate the pilot bicycle-sharing scheme in the area of Jurong Lake District for 8 years, another options to bid to conduct the bicycle-sharing scheme in Marina Bay-City Centre, Pasir Ris and Tampines.

The bicycle-sharing scheme is in line with the efforts of government to promote cycling and enhance first-and-last-mile accessibility to public transport and key amenities.
