KL-Singapore High Speed Rail ProjectFor the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 19 in Putrajaya, Malaysia, together with his Malaysian counterpart Prime Minister Najib Razak.

According to the statement released from Singapore Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) last Jul 18, The upcoming High-Speed Rail is a key bilateral project for both Singapore and Malaysia. The commitment of 2 governments to this project is a reflection of continued efforts to deepen relations and strong bilateral ties.

When fully completed, the High-Speed Rail will improve connectivity, forge closer people-to-people linkages and strengthen economic ties. The MoU signing is a “significant milestone” to the close bilateral cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  will be signed by Mr Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Malaysian Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Singapore’s Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure & Minister for Transport Mr. Khaw Boon Wan. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, the delegates includes the officials from the PMO and Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Land Transport Authority (LTA), Ministry of Communications & Information and Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Before the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Mr Lee Hsien Loong together with the delegation will be hosted to lunch by Mr Najib Razak. After the signing ceremony, the two Prime Minister are scheduled to hold a joint press conference.

The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project was first announced by Prime Ministers Lee Hsien Loong and Najib Razak in February 2013 at a leaders’ retreat. The upcoming project proposed 350 km-long line with 90 minutes travel time between Singapore and the Malaysian capital.

Jurong East was chosen by Singapore government to be the Singapore terminus for the upcoming Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project. Jurong East is a district with many places of interests and home for the two upcoming residential development, The Lakeville @ Lakeside and Lake Grande at Jurong West.
