For the record, Casa Sophia was first launched to tender back in July 2018 with an asking price amounting to $36 million. As the tender is set to close in August 2018, there were no possible buyers who showed interest for the site.

The second attempt for the relaunch was in March 2019 through a private treat. The price was lowered to a 16% discount at an asking price of $30 million or $1,158 per square foot per plot ratio. The tender closed at a successful sale which finally put Casa Sophia into the list of properties to be redeveloped and look forward to.

It was sold to a Singapore-linked private entity at a successful sale price of $29 million or a translated price of $1,120 per square foot per plot ratio. Though the price falls short from the set asking price, the former unit owners of this freehold property is very happy that it now finally found a new owner. The company that bought this en bloc is owned by Zhang Zhiming and Huang Yanhong.
