There are a total number of 24 contractors and consultants that are in place to be honored at the HDB Awards 2017 for the developments and tasks that have shown outstanding layouts plus the quality and creativity of their construction.
The 12 construction awards together with 12 layouts acknowledged by the Housing Board’s industry partners for their contributions that would be presented on September 6 (Wednesday).
“Providing elegant, well-made and quality houses for Singaporeans is a national aim. Even though HDB taking the responsibility in planning or making strategy, layout and construction of public housing, the structural consultants and building contractors play a vital role,” mentioned Dr. Cheong Koon Hean, the HDB’s Chief Executive.
Among the receiver of the said design awards is ADDP Architects LLP for proposing the architectural plan for Water Cascadia, a residential project in Punggol Waterway popular for its overflowing blocks that increases the area’s picturesque and attractive views. This project also garnered a Greenmark Gold Plus standard of the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) along with an ABC (Active, Beautiful and Clean) Waters authentication as a result of its eco-friendly quality, like rain gardens and network of bio swales.
The other awardee is the eminent Surbana Jurong Consultants, that is one of the recipient who also gained award for scheming Keat Hong Pride. The main factor of this development is its great and gigantic roof garden that comes with assorted accommodation such as precinct pavilions, fitness rooms and recreational areas.
Aside from the two awardees mentioned, there are also eight HDB housing projects that are able to get awards for building quality. These projects attained a rate of more than 90 and exceeded the national average of 88.7, which measures the overall feature of a building’s workmanship all along construction in the Construction Quality Assessment System (CONQUAS).
Another winner is the China Construction Development Co. in South Pacific for constructing Hougang Meadow, an 800-unit residential project that grab a score of over 95 in CONQUAS.
